The future of Mike's Nature Photo's

Published on 12 January 2025 at 15:52

As you may have noticed, there are not so many updates on this website anymore. Starting in January 2025 there are going to be a few changes to this website. In this post I want to inform you about those changes and write about the future of Mike's Nature Photo's

Lets start with looking back on everything we achieved in the past.

2017 - The start on Instagram

This is where everything started. I've created my own Instagram page and starting posting random pictures. I've posted everything in Dutch and I did not have a camera, I was just posting pictures of everything. It was not a lot, but it was the start of something big.

2019 - 5000 followers

After a few years, I got better with photography and decided that I've wanted my own brand. I wanted something more professional so I changed my whole instagram page, this is where I started posting in English, and started focussing more on professional photography with my brand new Nikon camera. This is also where the name 'Mike's Nature Photo's' became a thing, it became my brand name.

I was very active on instagram, and a lot of other photographers were also posting many pictures on instagram. We became a little community and had a lot of contact together. We all focussed on making nature photos and learned a lot from each other. We also discoverd hashtags and what kind of influence they had on your posts. This comination allowed me to grow bigger and bigger, untill I had 5000 followers and an active community that was engaging with my pictures. Do you still know the very succesfull photo competitions?

2021 - Changes on Instagram

It was so fun on instagram with our community and Instagram was a big part of my live. Maybe it was a bit too big. In this year, Instagram also changed a lot. Instagram started focussing more on videos, also known as Reels. Instagram started showing more advertisements and hashtags didn't do anything anymore. It was impossible to grow and reach people on instagram. I decided to take an Instagram break. And I think many people of the photography community did, I can tell you: almost no one came back. Our instagram accounts fell apart....

2022 - The start of the website

After a good break I decided that I didn't want to come back on Instagram. I was still making pictures, and wanted to show it to my followers and the rest of the world. This is where I started making this website.

2023 - Creative projects

Next to the nature pictures I wanted more. This is where all my creative projects came. I did so many different things. Do you remember the Quotes, Sticker Project, Affinity and videoprojects I did?

2025 - And now?

And now we are here. The last few months were a bit different. Since two years i'm studying, have other hobbies and started working a lot. The nature pictures moved from the most important thing in my life to the back. And don't get me wrong, I still like the nature and photography, but im having a break. Sometimes I get my camera to make pictures, but most of the time I make photos with my phone and keep those pictures for myself. My hobbies and priorities changed.

In the meantime this website still existed. And I have to pay for my domain name. The costs of this are too high so i've decided that I am going to leave this website for what it is. Im not going to pay for this domain name (mikesnaturephotos.com) anymore.

This website is not going to be deleted, but there are going to be come changes.

I'm not updating this website anymore for the upcoming year.

You can still visit this website, but you have to search for: mikesnaturephotos.jouwweb.nl

Jouwweb is also going to place advertisements on my pages and i am not able to update the photo gallery anymore. I can't do anything about this, and I don't earn money with those advertisements.

So it is time for a break. We will see that the future brings us. I'm still proud of this website and it is a great place to showcase all my pictures, and that is one thing that we can do forever.

I really Hope to see you another time when you want to scroll back to all the pictures I've made, to scroll back to all my memories.

Thanks a lot.

Mike
