We've asked, when did you start with photography?
In 2019 when I first got to try my sister’s Canon camera. I was 15 years old. We would go out and shoot portraits for fun, and with that came some practice. Then in 2020, I started my Media Design study. I learned more in depth about the ins and outs of photography and cameras, and that’s when I bought my first own canon camera. An EOS 250D. I Just kept exploring from there on and I still am!
Are you currently making a lot of photos?
Sometimes it’s one after another, sometimes it takes a while before I produce new photos. I try to photograph whenever I can, when a new idea pops into my head.
How do you share your photos?
And, what is your main goal?
I would love to combine my love and interest in (graphic/motion) design with photography and storytelling. I am currently in my gap year after finishing my media design study and am interested in doing a associate degree study in Content Creation next year, where i’ll be able to explore this further which I am very excited about! Besides that I am just trying to find my style, what direction within photography I would go, how and what I want to say with my pictures in terms of storytelling.

Stories from Femke.
What I love about photography is that It’s always a surprise what you are going to stumble upon. And things like that are what makes me eager to go out to take pictures more. For example with street photography it can be different lighting, weather, people, even things like cars and events and whatnot. It gives a different vibe every time! Same with portraits, even though they are “planned” in advance, It’s always fun to deviate from the plan and think outside the box to create more interesting stuff and experiment.
What’s important for me as a photographer is artistic vision. Just create something cool and interesting, maybe emotional. Something I learned as a photographer and designer during my study and what I would advice other photographers as well, is to use your artistic vision to your max ability: learn from others, challenge yourself, experiment, make mistakes. Don’t think too much just create! (:
At last we've asked for her favorite photo.
I don’t think I could pick one. I am most proud though in general of my portraits. I am just really interested in having a theme or concept and it’s so fun to work around that, and besides that I love to have a person in the frame. A portrait can tell us how we see a person but also capture a certain mood, feel, or how the model wants to be seen. Just lots of things to think about when creating is why I love portraits the most I guess
From the photographer:
We have asked Femke to join us in this project because you can get lost in the work of Femke. She creates many different pictures and they all are an artwork. There is alot to see in her pictures. The usual stuff in the city where everyone can relate to, creative visions but also beautiful portraits. There is something magical in every picture that brings the photo alive. Combine this with her different graphic design projects and you see the work of a true creative mind. Femke, your pictures are stunning and I always get lost in them. They create a special feeling. Keep going, learning and never stop being creative!
